Old Dogs Still Doing Tricks

How old is too old?? We pretty much can agree what too young is, right? Oh wait, you have no idea what I’m talking about. How old is too old to staff up the homestead, breed babies, build your tribe?? I’m from a family of women who can breed well into their 40’s. Needless to say, I have a lot of ‘Dang-how’d-that-happen’ cousins.

On my e-group, a single mother said that our frociate was going to not be able to toss around the ball with his kids if he doesn’t hurry up and have some. What?? This man is 30!!! I get sick of this arguement. I went ahead and had the kid so I could play with them. That’s some person tryna rationalize stupidity. Truth be told, I bet most of the people saying this silliness aren’t going out tossing around the football on Saturday afternoons. In fact, the chick who said it, well let’s just say I don’t know her well but I recall seeing her and her baby-daddy when she was preggers and they were together. From an outsider looking in, it seemed like she thought they had a future. But now, it’s a whole different story. How quickly the tides change. But now she brags that she can play with her kid cus she had her young. Bullshyt!

There are people out there having babies later in life. On purpose. Some adopt. Some actually carry to term. Is it fair for a 65 year old man to have a kid?? Won’t he be dead before the kid is 18?? That’s probably the only issue I might have. Because for the most part, older parents are more responsible. So what they can’t toss around the ball. So what their hearing may be such that the child can have an all out party in the basement while the parents sit upstairs.

I just found out an acquaintence is 36 or 37. Honestly, I thought she was 28. And here’s why. She’s always putting a fatty to her lips. I don’t even allow her to ride in my car because she ALWAYS has ‘green’ in her purse. I thought this type of behavior was for younger people. People whose age had a 2 on the left side!!! I thought after a certain point in your life, after enough experiences, you just let behaviors go. Eh, either that or you step it up a notch and become a crack whore. Even though those after school specials claim ‘green’ is a gateway drug, I don’t know anyone who went from that to being a crackhead or tweeker or whatever you call someone strung out on the heroin.

Now that I think about it, I do have a linesister who told me one of her employees is a recovering addict. This cat told her stories about how his addiction ruined his life. He’s been clean for a few years now. We figured he was on something major. Turns out, he was on the blunts. How do you get so strung out on that that you can’t funtion?? I’ll never understand drug addiction because at this point, everyone knows the dangers. Which is why, after everone saw New Jack City and that Spike Lee movie where Halle Berry was ‘prom queen of King HS’, I don’t think another new crackhead should have been created. We all saw what the crack did to a person!

Clearly, I was wrong. You can get strung out on ‘green’ and you can smoke it like a chimney even when you’r flirting with 40!

Now the guy my LS works with, she says he’s fine. Says he doesn’t look his age. She says that if I saw him on the street, I’d agree. Well, our ideas of who is fine are somewhat different. But I’ll give her a pass on this one. Put when I think of a former weed-head, uh drug addict, I think of the old men in the club. I picture him being the guy in the club who is clearly old but thinks he’s still the hotness and it’s still 1986. Y’all know the ones. The ones who keep their car keys in their hand in a weak attempt to impress the young tenderoni’s with their Cadillacs. Ha, I bet he could get my girl. Speaking of which, she seemed to be considering getting with her daughter’s grandpa. But that’s an entry for another day. Is 50 too old to be in a club?? Only if the average age for the partiers is more than 10 years younger. Agree? Disagree?? Should the more senior members of society be content to sit home watching old Madlock re-runs?
