Just in case you’re back here to read the comments, you might as well go back to the post from Tuesday. People are still commenting.
This is probably the shortest post I’ve ever written. Non-relationship based, but I think discussion worthy. Hope this meet’s O’s expectations!
The original post will make it’s way before you on Friday. But after my com-f*ckin’-mute this morning, I can’t help but ignore it. Tookie Williams. It was all over the radio–even the white stations who normally ignore any news where a Black person is the star. “Today Tookie’s lawyer speaks to the govenor.” Sure he’s on death row, and not in the musical sense. This fool is about to catch a hot injection. And now his lawyer wants it reversed. Humh. Let’s see. He started one of the worse gangs ever. That’s death row worthy. He was convicted of killing four people. Also death row worthy. Althought he says he didn’t do it. And he’s a Black man. So you know THAT’S death row worthy.
While in jail, Tookie seems to have turned his life around. He wrote some books for the babies. Not so death row worthy. He also went straight anti-gangs. Not death row worthy either. Even speaks out against gangs. Jamie Foxx portrayed him in a movie. That has to count for something right?? I mean Jamie is the new darkie to love right?
In the general sense, if everything was equal in this country, I’d be passing out the death penalty like free cheese in the Reagan years. But it’s not. It’s disproportionately dished out to minorities, especially poor minorities. And for that reason, I can’t stand behind the death penalty for ANYONE! Especailly a cat who has changed his life around. Thoughts?
